MAP

A concrete application that became an infrastructure

MAP is the institutional brand of the project carried by Mon Ami Poto SAS. Its purpose: to provide the electronic money infrastructure for earmarked funding, that is, to allocate funds to a defined use, organise their circulation and track the operations carried out.

The project does not begin with a platform in search of a use. It begins with a use: organising solidarity contributions so that they are allocated, usable and tracked. It is this scheme, Poto / Mon Ami Poto, that made necessary the infrastructure MAP carries today.

This path explains the way MAP describes its offer. A capability is presented as available only once it has been implemented or contractually settled. A family of uses that has not yet been deployed is presented as a working framework, not as a reference.

What MAP does, and does not do

Issue electronic money allocated to a programme.
Apply the rules of use agreed with the funder.
Keep and report the log of the programme’s operations.
Document the scope of what is observed, and of what is not.

What MAP does not do

Assess individual situations examined by an organisation.
Substitute for the internal control or evaluation of a scheme.
Guarantee the accuracy of data entered by a third party.
Carry out banking activity or act for a central bank.

The relationship between MAP and Poto

Poto / Mon Ami Poto is the solidarity application: it addresses contributors, organisations and people receiving support. MAP is the infrastructure: it addresses organisations that fund a use and must account for it. The former gave rise to the latter, and remains its first field of application.

An identifiable company

MAP does not present itself as a group, claims neither premises nor headcount, and uses the terms ‘management’, ‘committee’ or ‘board’ only for bodies that actually exist.
